Job Brief
We seek a skilled and passionate Mexican Chef to bring authentic and innovative Mexican flavors to our kitchen. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of traditional Mexican ingredients, cooking techniques, and flavor profiles. They should be creative, detail-oriented, and experienced in crafting various Mexican dishes while maintaining high presentation standards, food safety, and customer satisfaction.
What You Will Be Doing
- Design, develop, and refine Mexican cuisine menu items, including appetizers, main dishes, and desserts.
- Introduce seasonal and innovative menu items to captivate our customers while honoring traditional Mexican flavors.
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes to the highest standards of quality and authenticity, ensuring consistent taste and presentation.
- Use traditional Mexican cooking methods such as grilling, frying, and slow cooking to enhance flavor.
- Work with a variety of ingredients specific to Mexican cuisine, including chiles, spices, masa, and fresh produce.
- Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and efficient service.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on Mexican culinary techniques and standards.
- Manage stock levels for Mexican ingredients, ensuring freshness and timely replenishment.
- Comply with food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Regularly inspect and monitor food quality and presentation.
- Oversee proper handling, storage, and disposal of ingredients to prevent spoilage and contamination.
- Engage with guests and gather feedback on menu items to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Adjust recipes and presentation styles based on customer preferences and dietary needs.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience of at least four (4) years as a Mexican Chef or similar role specializing in Mexican cuisine.
- A culinary degree or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of traditional and contemporary Mexican dishes, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Passion for Mexican culture and cuisine.
