Job Brief
We are seeking a meticulous and analytical Kitchen Auditor to oversee and manage all kitchen-related financial and inventory activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking production, managing inventory, auditing transactions, and ensuring financial compliance with local tax laws and standard operating procedures. This role works closely with both the finance and culinary teams to maintain cost efficiency and operational integrity.
What you will be doing
- Conduct routine audits of kitchen inventory, including raw materials, perishables, and packaging.
- Monitor daily consumption and reconcile with kitchen production and POS sales records.
- Analyze food cost variance and flag discrepancies for investigation.
- Ensure adherence to FIFO, update wastage logs, and enforce stock control procedures.
- Oversee procurement and stock issuance in alignment with budget constraints.
- Generate reports on kitchen performance metrics such as yield, spoilage, and cost per dish.
- Provide accurate kitchen-related cost data to support monthly financial closings.
- Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to instill financial discipline and improve cost efficiency.
- Recommend and implement cost-control strategies to reduce waste, pilferage, and overproduction.
- Maintain strict compliance with financial SOPs, audit standards, and operational policies.
The ideal candidate
- Minimum of HND in Accounting, Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Analytics.
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment managing food service accounting, inventory auditing, or cost control.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory/accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, POS systems).
- Solid understanding of food costing, inventory control, and kitchen operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and kitchen teams.
- Familiarity with HACCP, FIFO, and standard kitchen audit procedures is a strong advantage.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and strong analytical skills.
- Professional certifications relevant to accounting or auditing are a plus.
