Job Brief

The Recreation Manager is responsible for overseeing all recreation, leisure, and wellness facilities and programs within the property, ensuring guests and residents enjoy exceptional leisure experiences. The role manages the daily operations of the pool, gym, spa, games area, and organized activities while maintaining high service standards, safety compliance, and revenue generation.

The ideal candidate will combine strong operational leadership, creativity in programming, and financial management to deliver memorable recreational experiences that align with the hotel’s commitment to excellence.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Oversee the daily operations of all recreation areas including swimming pools, gym, spa, children’s play areas, sports courts, and lounges.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recreation facilities in alignment with the hotel’s service standards.
  • Ensure all recreation facilities, equipment, and environments maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and safety.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Housekeeping teams to schedule preventive maintenance and equipment repairs.
  • Monitor guest flow and manage activity schedules to ensure optimal guest comfort and avoid overcrowding.
  • Design and implement innovative leisure programs, wellness activities, and family-friendly entertainment.
  • Supervise guest service interactions in all recreation areas to ensure courteous and professional service delivery.
  • Address guest feedback and resolve complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Work with the Marketing team to promote recreational activities, wellness programs, and special events.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise recreation team members to ensure service excellence.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, hospitality, and safety across the department.
  • Conduct regular staff performance evaluations and identify training needs.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, grooming standards, and health and safety procedures.
  • Develop and manage the recreation department budget, including forecasting revenues and controlling operational costs.
  • Monitor inventory levels for recreation equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
  • Prepare departmental reports covering facility usage, guest satisfaction, and operational performance.
  • Develop revenue-generating initiatives such as memberships, wellness packages, private training sessions, and special recreational programs.
  • Work closely with Food & Beverage, Rooms, Sales & Marketing, and Events teams to integrate leisure activities into the overall guest experience.
  • Support hotel events such as corporate retreats, weddings, and themed guest activities with tailored recreation programs.
  • Participate in management meetings and contribute to strategic planning for the department.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Recreation Management, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in recreation or leisure management within a 4- or 5-star hotel or resort environment.
  • Proven experience managing multi-facility recreation operations including pool, gym, spa, and guest activities.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, or Lifeguard Training is required.
  • Additional certifications in fitness, wellness, or spa management are an advantage.
